How do Castor Oil Packs Work?

Castor oil is a carrier oil meaning it can carry substances deeper into the epidermal (skin) tissues.

Castor oil packs help boost fertility because they help clear fallopian tubes, shrink, dissolve and break up old scar tissue, fibroids, adhesions, endometriosis and cysts.

If you add essential oils beneficial for your fertility goal to your castor oil pack, this may enhance its effects.

Just be sure not to add anything crazy to the castor oil, like an essential oil that decreases fertility or the castor oil pack may have a reverse effect.

To do a castor oil pack you will need:

  • Jamaican Black castor oil
  • Cotton Muslin cloth or Flannel fabric
  • Towels
  • Bowl
  • Hot water bottle or electric heating pad; and
  • Plastic wrap (If you’re going plastic free, instead use something to keep the oil on your body from staining your sheets while it absorbs into your skin. Wax paper might do the trick!)

I made a simple castor oil pack for fertility checklist you can download to help you do all the steps. Just click the button below to get it NOW.

NOTE: Castor oil stains fabric and is a bit sticky when wet and tacky when dry depending on what it comes in contact with.

How Long should I do a Castor Oil Pack?

Get comfortable and make sure you will be able to be undisturbed for at least 30 mins to an hour.

Once you get the castor oil on you, you won’t be able to move around too much.

Before you leave check out my video of me doing a castor oil pack haul BELOW.

I’ll make a video soon on how exactly to do it and post real photos of me doing it and post those here.

But in the meantime…

Check out my instagram post for a step-by-step visual on how to do a castor oil pack.

How often do I do a Castor Oil Pack?

You can do a castor oil pack once or twice per week starting after your period is over.

One reason you want to wait til after your period is to make sure you’re not already pregnant.

Its best to do castor oil pack every 2 – 3 days starting the first day after your period is over.

Stop 2 days before you expect to ovulate. Only continue if you know you’re NOT pregnant.

If you did not have intercourse around your time of ovulation you can continue to do it until the first day of your next period.

Another reason is because castor oil packs can make your menstrual contractions stronger.

You can do a castor oil pack about every day but you might want to skip a day or two because castor oils can upset your stomach or cause the shrinking fibroids (red degeneration) etc, to make your stomach feel irritable.

When to Stop Doing a Castor Oil Pack?

STOP IMMEDIATELY:

  • If you think you might be pregnant
  • 2 days before you expect to ovulate
  • During menstruation
  • if you experience allergic reaction (do a patch test first)

Here’s a video of me purchasing the muslin fabric and castor oil. This should help you visualize yourself doing it yourself.

Castor oil packs for fertility are definately at the top of my list of things to do to boost your fertility naturally. If you have fibroids, endometriosis, cysts or other growths is you reproductive area, you may want to consider giving castor oil packs a try.

In my 30 Day Fertility Plan, I help Black women like you decide whether this is right for you or not. With my plan you can adjust or increase your castor oil pack regimen so you’re not doing too many or too little castor oil packs for fertility so you can boost your fertility naturally.
